Where the beans come from

Everything on Bloom comes from 18 Japanese roasters I buy from myself. Each one is here because I kept going back to it — ordering again, and liking what turned up. Nobody pays to be listed and there is no way to apply.

We admit roasters, not coffees

The editorial decision happens once, at the roaster level. We decide a roaster belongs on Bloom, and after that we don't pick and choose among their coffees — whatever they have listed when the catalog refreshes is what you see. At the last refresh that came to around 235 coffees.

That's a deliberate trade. It means we're not quietly curating which of a roaster's coffees you're allowed to see, and it means the catalog reflects what's genuinely on sale rather than what we got round to adding. It also means we can't promise every single coffee here is one we'd personally recommend — the roaster is the recommendation.

Nobody is asked first, so if you're one of the roasters on Bloom and would rather not be listed, say so and we'll take you off.

How often it refreshes

The catalog rebuilds itself once a month, reading each roaster's current listings. A person reviews the result before it goes live. The most recent refresh was 21 August 2026.

How accurate it is

Between refreshes, things drift. A coffee can sell out, a price can change, a roaster can pull a lot. We'd rather tell you that than pretend to a freshness we don't have.

So treat Bloom as a way to find something, and the roaster's own page as the truth about whether you can still buy it and what it costs today.

Where they are

Every roaster on Bloom is currently in Japan. That's not a permanent position, but expanding means handling other currencies and shipping expectations properly, and we'd rather do that deliberately than badly.

Coffee descriptions arrive in whatever language the roaster wrote them in, so you'll see a mix of Japanese and English.
